Things to Do in Belek When the Sunbed Has Stopped Being Interesting

Belek is a purpose-built resort strip on the Mediterranean coast east of Antalya, so a holiday here starts with the beach, the pine woods and the golf the town is known for. Beyond that, guests usually split their time between the countryside and Taurus foothills just inland, boat trips and river activities along the wider Antalya coast, and the ancient sites and weekly markets of the surrounding region. The only activity on this page we run ourselves is our off-road safari: a quad safari from €30 per driver or a buggy safari from €35, round-trip hotel transfer included in the price from Belek and Kadriye across to Lara, Kundu, Antalya and Konyaaltı and east along the Side coast, around 4 to 4.5 hours door to door. You reserve free of charge and pay in euros on the tour day.

Belek in plain terms, and what that means for your days

Belek is not an old town that grew a tourist quarter around itself. It is a resort strip built for holidays on the Mediterranean coast east of Antalya, laid out between a long beach and the pine woods behind it, with Kadriye at one end and farmland, stream beds and rising ground inland. That layout explains the shape of most stays here: the hotels are large and self-contained, the sea sits directly in front of the hotel gardens, and unless you deliberately go looking, one day dissolves into the next. Plenty of guests want exactly that.

The honest way to lay out the alternatives is by category rather than by ranking. We are a local off-road operator, not a tourist board, so we have no business publishing a top ten of places nobody asked us to assess. What follows is an orientation instead: what physically exists around a Belek hotel, what kind of day each option turns into, and which single one of them we run ourselves. That one comes with real prices and real terms, so you can tell a description from an offer.

The beach, the pines and the golf Belek is known for

The strip itself is the first answer, and for many people it is answer enough. The beach runs for a long stretch with pine woods pressed up behind it, so shade is rarely far away and the hotel gardens flow more or less straight into the sand. Belek is also one of the best-known golf destinations in Turkey, with courses laid out among those same pines. If golf is the reason you came, your hotel desk arranges the tee times and the subject needs no introduction from us.

Around the hotels there are small shopping streets, cafes and evening promenades, and the Kadriye side of the strip has a large theme-park and waterpark complex that most guests hear about at reception. We sell tickets for none of it, so ask your hotel for current details rather than a figure typed onto a website months ago. What the strip does well is easy days that need no planning.

  • Beach and pool days that require nothing booked in advance
  • Golf, which the town is genuinely built around
  • Evening walks, cafes and small shopping streets near the hotels
  • A family day at the big park complex on the Kadriye side, arranged through your hotel

The countryside inland, which most guests never see

Turn your back on the sea and the picture changes quickly. The pine belt thickens, greenhouses and citrus plots appear, and the ground begins to lift towards the foothills of the Taurus Mountains. Shallow streams come down out of those mountains and cross the flat land on their way to the coast, and the tracks that farmers and foresters use tie the whole thing together. It is a working landscape rather than a scenic viewpoint, which is exactly what makes it worth driving through.

Our own tours run in country of exactly that kind, though not in the belt directly behind your hotel: the course is over in the Aspendos area, on the natural land along the Köprüçay river, and that is why an off-road day feels unlike anything else on the strip. Nothing about it is manicured. There is dust in the dry stretches, mud where conditions allow, and the surface under your wheels keeps changing from gravel to sand to shallow water. You come back looking like you actually did something, which is rather the point.

The one activity on this page we run ourselves

Everything above is context. Here we stop describing and start quoting numbers, because a quad safari and a buggy safari from Belek are what our company actually sells. Each tour comes as a Short Tour or a Long Tour, and the difference is riding time, not route quality.

Whichever you choose, the whole programme takes roughly 4 to 4.5 hours door to door, covering hotel pickup, the transfer, the briefing, the compulsory test ride, the ride itself and the transfer back. Exact timings vary with where your hotel sits. If you want the criteria we think separate a good Belek off-road day from a forgettable one, we argue our own case on the best quad safari page instead of repeating it here.

  • Quad Safari, Short Tour: 1.5-2 hours of riding, €30 per driver
  • Quad Safari, Long Tour: 2.5-3 hours of riding, €38 per driver
  • Buggy Safari, Short Tour: 1.5-2 hours of riding, €35 per driver
  • Buggy Safari, Long Tour: 2.5-3 hours of riding, €43 per driver
  • Anyone riding along pays half the driver price: €15 or €19 on a quad, €17.50 or €21.50 in a buggy
  • Everyone who joins the transfer and the safari pays, at any age; each driver takes one passenger along, and we do not recommend the passenger seat for children under 4, who can find it hard to hold on safely

What an off-road day in Belek actually involves

Pickup happens from your hotel and is included in the price rather than quoted as an extra, with no transfer surcharge: we collect from Belek and Kadriye, from Boğazkent, Lara, Kundu, Antalya, Muratpaşa and Konyaaltı, and east along the Side coast through Manavgat, Evrenseki, Kumköy, Çolaklı, Gündoğdu and Kızılot. The collection time is confirmed after booking rather than published, because it depends on the day's transfer route. At the base you get a safety briefing and a compulsory test ride before anyone reaches open ground, and then the route strings together shallow river sections, dusty forest tracks and open off-road terrain, with a rest stop partway where drinks and snacks are your own expense.

No driving licence is needed, because the route is a private off-road course rather than a public road, and anyone aged 16 or over may drive. After the briefing, every driver takes a compulsory test ride, and that is what settles who drives: whoever gets through it takes their own machine, while anyone who does not, or who would simply rather not, rides along as a passenger for half the driver price. Nobody is pushed either way. On the quads, drivers must be 16 or over and carry ID, which is there to evidence the age rule rather than to stand in for a licence, and there is no lower age limit for the passenger seat, though we do not recommend it for children under 4, who can find it hard to hold on safely, and a passenger of any age pays the half fare. The buggies are two-seaters, which is why they suit couples and groups who want to share one machine. Wear old clothes and closed shoes, since flip-flops are not suitable, and bring a change of clothes, sunscreen and water. Helmet is included; goggles are an optional extra sold on site.

Water days: boat trips and the rivers inland

The usual counterweight to an off-road day is a day on the water, and the wider Antalya coast offers both versions of that. Coastal boat trips are a category in themselves, with swimming stops and bays easier to reach from the sea than from the road, at a much slower pace than anything with an engine under you. We do not sell boat tours from this site, so we will not quote prices or timings for them; our own boat operation out of Belek covers that side now, and its guide sets out how a boat day from Belek is put together, starting from the fact that Belek has no boat harbour of its own, so the day begins with a hotel pickup rather than a walk to a quay.

Inland, the rivers running out of the mountains around the Köprülü Canyon are where the region's rafting happens, and rafting is the obvious alternative to weigh against an off-road morning. Our sister operation covers that side at bookraftingantalya.com, and because we are asked to compare the two so often, we set the comparison out properly on its own page. What we cannot offer is a combined quad and rafting day from Belek: it is not in our catalogue here, and we would rather say so than sell you a maybe.

Ancient sites, mountains and market days

The region around Belek is layered with classical remains, Perge and Aspendos inland of the coast road and Side further east along the shore, and they are the standard excursion answer once the beach has run its course. We are an off-road operator and do not run those trips, so we deliberately publish no opening hours, no ticket prices and no travel times for them. Those details change, and a stale number is worse than none. Your hotel desk or a local agency will have the current version. A jeep safari day into the mountains is another category people ask us about; ours runs from Side rather than Belek, on sidejeepsafari.net.

Market days are the other recurring question at reception. The towns around the strip each have their weekly market, with produce, textiles and spices, bargaining expected and cash the easiest way to pay. Ask your hotel which day the nearest one falls on, because that is live local knowledge rather than something to lift from a page written long before your flight.

Fitting it together across a week

If you only intend to leave the hotel once or twice, the order matters. Put the active day early in the stay rather than saving it for the last morning: you keep the option of moving it if the weather turns, and you spend the rest of the week measuring everything else against it. A beach day directly afterwards is the natural pairing, because an off-road morning takes more out of you than it looks.

Groups rarely want identical things, which is where the two-seater buggies and the half-price passenger fare earn their place. One person drives, another comes along at half the driver price, and nobody has to sit the day out at the hotel. Families in particular tend to build a week around one shared adventure and a great deal of pool time, and we set the age rules and the passenger arrangement out in full on our page for families, so you can check them against your own group before you book.

Practical notes before you book anything from a Belek hotel

Two things decide whether an activity is genuinely easy from a Belek hotel: whether transport is included, and whether you have to pay before you know what the weather is doing. On our tours the answers are yes and no, in that order.

That is the entire commercial arrangement, and it is why we stay general about attractions we do not operate and precise about the one we do. Everything else on this page is orientation. The quad safari and the buggy safari are the bookable part.

  • Round-trip hotel pickup and drop-off included in the price, with no surcharge, from Belek, Kadriye, Boğazkent, Lara, Kundu, Antalya, Muratpaşa, Konyaaltı, Side, Manavgat, Evrenseki, Kumköy, Çolaklı, Gündoğdu and Kızılot

Questions

Frequently asked

What is there to do in Belek apart from the beach?
Broadly four things: the resort strip itself with its beach, cafes and golf; the countryside inland where off-road tours run; boat trips and river activities along the wider Antalya coast; and excursion days to the region's ancient sites and weekly markets. Of those, the only one we operate ourselves is the quad and buggy safari, which is why it is the only one on this page with prices attached.
Is Belek only for golfers?
No. Golf is what the town is best known for and it is a plain fact of the place, but the beach, the resort strip and the countryside inland are all there whether or not you have ever held a club. Our own tours exist for exactly the other case: you came for the sea and want one active day inland.
What can families do in Belek with children?
Most family weeks here run on beach and pool time with one or two outings built in. On our side, an adult drives and a child rides along in the passenger seat, on a quad or in a two-seater buggy, at half the driver price. That half fare is the only reduction there is: no child rate, no free seat, so a family of four books and pays for four places. We do not recommend the passenger seat for children under 4, who can find it hard to hold on safely. The full age and passenger rules are on our page for families.
Do I need a car to do anything outside my Belek hotel?
Not for our tours: round-trip hotel pickup and drop-off is included in the price from Belek and Kadriye across to Lara, Kundu, Antalya and Konyaaltı and east along the Side coast, so you are collected and returned at no extra cost. For attractions we do not operate, transport is up to you, your hotel desk or a local agency, and we would rather not guess on their behalf.
Can I be picked up from my hotel for a quad safari?
Yes, and it costs nothing extra, because the round-trip transfer is part of the price rather than a separate item. We collect from Belek, Kadriye, Boğazkent, Lara, Kundu, Antalya, Muratpaşa and Konyaaltı, and east along the Side coast through Manavgat, Evrenseki, Kumköy, Çolaklı, Gündoğdu and Kızılot. The collection time is confirmed after booking, hotel by hotel. If your hotel is somewhere that is not on that list, message us on WhatsApp before you book and we will tell you plainly whether we can reach you rather than promising and rearranging later.
How much does a quad or buggy safari from Belek cost?
The quad safari is €30 per driver for the Short Tour with 1.5-2 hours of riding, or €38 for the Long Tour with 2.5-3 hours. The buggy safari is €35 and €43 for the same two lengths. Anyone riding along as a passenger pays half: €15 or €19 on a quad, €17.50 or €21.50 in a buggy. That half fare is the only reduction we have, and nobody rides free: every person on the booking, adult or child, driver or passenger, is a paid place.
Do I have to pay in advance to book an activity with you?
No. The reservation is free, we take no card details online, and you pay in euros on the day of the tour. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure, which is exactly why we suggest putting your active day early in the holiday.
Is there a quad and rafting combo from Belek?
Not in our catalogue here. Rafting in this region happens on the rivers inland and is a separate day run by our sister operation, so if you want both you book them as two outings. If you are still deciding between them, our comparison of an off-road day and a rafting day lays out what each one asks of you.
